Nestlé Nigeria Plc has reassured parents and caregivers that all infant formula products sold in Nigeria are not part of the voluntary and precautionary recall recently announced in several international markets.
The company’s clarification follows a global recall of certain Nestlé infant formula batches in over 50 countries, including parts of Europe and elsewhere, that was initiated over a potential cereulide toxin concern. Cereulide is a heat-stable toxin produced by Bacillus cereus that can cause foodborne illness, leading some markets to take precautionary action.

In a statement issued in Lagos, Nestlé Nigeria’s Corporate Affairs Manager, Toju Egbebi, said the recall applies only to specific batches distributed outside the Nigerian market. The company emphasised that infant formula products manufactured for and sold in Nigeria are not part of the affected international batches.
