Troops Arrest Gunrunner with Six Machine Guns in Taraba


 

Troops of the Nigerian Army under the 6 Brigade, Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, have arrested a suspected gunrunner found with six machine guns at a riverbank in Ibi, Taraba.

The suspect was intercepted while traveling in a Peugeot 504 vehicle, following actionable intelligence and inter-agency collaboration. He remains in military custody and is currently being interrogated to determine the source of the weapons and their intended buyers.

Security operatives also recovered charms, cash, mobile phones, and other suspected diabolical items from the suspect.

Speaking while parading the recovered weapons, the Commander of the 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Akaliro, credited the operation’s success to strong cooperation among security agencies. He urged residents to continue providing useful information, assuring them of anonymity.

Akaliro emphasized that the military remains committed to eliminating criminal activities and maintaining peace across Taraba State, noting that the recovered weapons were medium-caliber machine guns capable of causing significant damage. He added that efforts are ongoing to track the supply network behind the arms.
